David Garrett to visit US behind self-titled set

German-American violinist David Garrett will kick off 2010 with a slew of club and theater performances scattered throughout the US behind his recently released eponymous album.

Beginning Feb. 16 in Dallas, the string virtuoso will take to the road for a 22-date trek that works its way from the East Coast to the West, and will wrap up the run with an April 7 concert in Fort Lauderdale. The full schedule is shown below.

In June, Garrett released his first US album, a self-titled set on the Decca Records label. The 14 tracks include instrumental covers of rock favorites by artists such as Queen ("Who Wants to Live Forever?,") AC/DC ("Thunderstruck,") Metallica ("Nothing Else Matters") and Michael Jackson ("Smooth Criminal.")

"I've put everything into it--my time, my emotions, my musical integrity, my technical playing, my arrangements and new pieces--everything," the musician explained in a statement posted at his website.

In October, Garrett unveiled "David Garrett Live--In Concert & In Private," a nearly three-hour live performance DVD, and he followed it up last month with "Classic Romance," a 12-track CD. Both releases are available exclusively in Europe.
